Pronunciation
If you think you know how to pronounce my name, you likely have it right 🙂
Andi is pronounced like Andy or And – ee.
Buchanan is pronounced Byu – can – un where the first syllable is the same as the first syllable of beautiful (not pronounced as “buck”).
Gendered terminology
I use they/them pronouns. If you are unfamiliar with these there is more information and examples at this pronouns.page site.
I ask that you simply use the correct pronouns without explanation, as you would for those with who use he or she. Eg “Andi C. Buchanan based their most recent work on…” not “Andi C. Buchanan who identifies as non-binary and uses the pronouns they/them based their most recent work on…”
Please use other gender neutral terminology as appropriate eg “person” rather than “man” or “woman”. I don’t generally use a title but if there’s a need for it I’m happy with Mx (pronounced mix or mux).
The best way to describe my gender is “non-binary“. I’m happy to be included in lists or groupings of “trans” or “gender diverse/divergent” people.
If you are writing an article but someone else will be writing photo captions I ask that you check in with them to ensure correct pronouns and other terminology are used.
