When she gets up close, it’s bigger than she imagined, a mass of flesh and hair towering above her, and as wide as a house. Whatever it is is dead, long dead, and yet it doesn’t seem entirely motionless, as if it’s slowly exhaling. It smells of fish just on the edge of rotting, and its hair still drips with water. She can find no features; no eyes or fins or tail, just flesh piled on indistinct flesh.
